Nov 23 - 30 Albums

Here is the cycle for next weeks album swaps.

This weeks cycle will be:

Dan recommends to Matt (Lead Sails Paper Anchor 2.0 by Atreyu)
The Chief recommends to Ben (Grace by Jeff Buckley)
Matt recommends to Dan (Is This It by The Strokes)
Ben recommends to The Chief (Common Dreads by Enter Shikari)

2 albums reviewed from last week, Matt's review on GZA/Genius will be up tomorrow. Haven't heard from Ben regarding Tonedeff today, but I'm sure it will get sorted out.

Enjoy

Great Change is Afoot

From now and onwards AlbumSwap will be working differently. Each week each of us will be assigned another member to recommend an album to. This way we can decide what we want the others to listen to and defeats the problem of 'X has heard this so I can't upload it'. This album can obviously, therefore, be the same for three consecutive weeks if you want each member to listen to it. There is of course nothing really stopping anyone from reviewing someone elses so long as they do theirs first, but I think it would be better if we could delve into the back-catalogue first as I'm sure there are some hidden gems in there. The rota will cycle every week to ensure that we don't get any repeats.

This weeks cycle will be:

Dan recommends to The Chief (In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 by Coheed and Cambria)
The Chief recommends to Matt (Liquid Swords by GZA/Genius)
Matt recommends to Ben (Archetype by Tonedeff)
Ben recommends to Dan (Absolution by Muse)

Make your choises wisely, gentlemen.

Thanks,

Dan

Really Dan? "choises"? I am disappoint
Chiefy

Really, Chief? "[You are] disappoint"?
Dan

I am disappoint is a meme, choises is a typo.
Chiefy

I don't give a fuck.

One More Week

This week has been pretty slow in terms of reviews...I think we've all just been keeping busy, but Matt and I have decided to extend this weeks albums until next monday, just so we can all catch up.
Cheers :)

Back up in this motherfucker

Hello, me and Dan have decided that its about time we brought back the greatest blog ever known to man. With most of our members scattered across the country I thought AS would be a good way of keeping in touch with everyone and start sharing our(my) immense music with not only each other but with our eager reader.
I will be e-mailing all our old authors to see if they are up for it and if we can get everyone back then we'll all get together and decide on how to run things. But to kick things off Dan and I are going to out up an album each just to get the ball rolling. Enjoy, I know you all will.

Albumswap Over

As I'm sure you've noticed, Albumswap has died. Matt and I would like to thank everyone for their input, and it was good while it lasted.

For anyone interested, though, Matt and I have started a new blog. In the new blog, we will be reviewing any music that we choose too, and by reviewing it we are recommending it to others. This way, people are not being forced to listen to albums. The new blog is called Ear Blinks. It can be found here
Ear Blinks will feature reviews on any album that an author wants to review, and will also contain live reviews and music news.

If anyone would like to be an author on the new blog, and contribute to the site, then drop me or Matt message and we'll sort it out.
This defeats the 'only 4 people get to post an album and everyone has to review it all in a week' problem we had on this site. Now, authors can choose to review what they want, when they want, hopefully providing a constant stream of posts.

Thanks again, and hopefully we'll see you over at Ear Blinks.

Album Swap Return

Album Swap is now back from its short hiatus. Today, albums can be posted from Matt, Alex, Ben, Dan and Roshan. Today will also be the first time an album is posted from the 'New Release Monday' collection.
Albums will not be assigned to two other members, instead, anyone can review whichever album they choose. By next Monday, we will put new albums forward so long as each album has been reviewed at least once.

Linkin Park - New Divide

Reading & Leeds Lock-Up Stage Announcement

Radio One website has just announced the full line-up of the Lock-Up Stage for Reading & Leeds this summer. It looks like this:

Looks like a decent enough line up to me. Well, near the top anyway. Does mean I shan't be seeing Kings Of Leon or Arctic Monkeys this year though.

However, it looks like Alexisonfire and Placebo will be clashing. This would be disastrous.

Album Swap Hiatus

We're taking a short break over the exam period becuase of revision and all that. Everyone else can still review the album's we've currently got if they wish to. But I'm afraid no new albums will be posted for a while.
Still there's plenty to look forward to including reviews of the Sonisphere and Reading festivals and the long awaited Album Swap Podcast. As well as a bit of a revamp of the place and some better organisation.

See you in June

Matt.

A little note from Dan:

I've been through all the posts and tagged them with their reviewer in the format "review: (name)"

In future posts could we try and do this? Also I want to get all the genres sorted out, but obviously a lot of the time the poster can't really decide on what genre(s) to post it as.

I'll list the uncategorized albums here, if you can suggest a genre then please post it in the comments section of this post.

Elliott Smith - Roman Candle
Blur - Parklife
Biffy Clyro - Puzzle
The Smiths - Meat Is Murder
InMe - White Butterfly
Skindred - Babylon
Damien Rice - O

Thanks

New Way of Doing Things

In order to prevent clutter and to make sure everyone can get their reviews in on time we're going to be changing the process of the site a little bit. Instead of having Alex, Ben, Dan and I review everything thats put up we each have to do two reviews each. They are going to be selected at random, using random.org, to keep it fair and seeing as we haven't got any reviews up for this week so far we're going to be starting this now. Reviewer's rules still apply in the same way, you can review what ever you want. This week Roshan will be included because he submitted an album

So this week we've got

  1. The Smiths - Ben, Roshan
  2. Fightstar - Roshan, Matt
  3. Ben's album - Matt, Alex
  4. Cunninlynguists - Dan, Ben
  5. Jonny Greenwood - Alex, Dan
Opinions on this method? This is subject to change if people aren't happy.

For anyone wishing to join in the fun

Hello,

To anyone who wants to be an author on the site and join Alex, Ben, Dan and I in reviewing the albums on this blog then just contact any of us and let us know, we'll add you as soon as possible. Elliott already has. You're not expected to review every album put up but please take it seriously.
Unfortunately we aren't currently having anyone else suggest albums as 4 a week is enough, coupled with our new feature New Release Sunday where each of us will review an album that none of us have heard before (this may not yet happen but it probably will), it's probably going to be too much to handle and too hard to keep organised.

Thanks.

Welcome to Album Swap

Hello there,
This is a blog where me (Matt), Dan, Alex and Ben, and anyone else who is interested, trade albums with each other in order to find new music, share opinions of them and have fun listening to music.
Each week we will post an album each to swap with each other and for you (the reader), followed by a short review and rating of the other person's album.

That's about it, hope you enjoy it.

Matt
